Civil Conversations
We are a really big fan of On Being Studios and Krista Tippett on Being and her work creating Civil Conversations.
It is a weird thing to say but LOVE is at the centerpiece of Civil Discourse. There is no greater act of loving our community than coming to the table and engaging around our values.
Even if we don’t agree on policies, the act of listening to a person, from the heart, on who they are, what keeps them up at night, what they want for their community, and how they would like to get there is an ACT OF LOVE. It creates belonging. It soothes the soul. It creates peace.
So next time you consider booing or leaving someone out, consider loving them instead with dialogue and listening. It is one thing to talk about love and inclusion – quite another to live it.
It starts with dialogue.
